Biography of  Todd A. Simonds

Todd A. Simonds, founder of Innovative Digital Design, LLC, has been employed by VBrick Systems, Inc.  for 8 years and by United Technologies Corporation (Otis Elevator) for 12 years.

As a system level architect, he has developed the framework for VBrick systems’ network appliances, performing trade-offs between hardware, software, and firmware to obtain optimum cost, features, and development time. 

Overall, he has accomplished two ASIC designs, dozens of FPGA designs including one 6 million gate design, many high-speed pc board designs using several processors, DSPs, FPGAs, with a wide variety of analog and digital interfaces. He has written software for several different processors including PowerPC, Intel, TI and Motorola DSPs, using Linux, VxWorks RTOS, TI DSP BIOS, and assembly language for the TI 64x+ and others. He has been involved in algorithm development for video encoding and motion estimation, as well as motor control.

He holds one U.S. Patent, 6,401,875 on a motor control algorithm.

He attained a Bachelor's of Science degree from the University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT, majoring in Electrical Engineering with a 3.6/4.0 GPA. Since then he has pursued further education periodically, including 4 Matriculate level Electrical Engineering and Computer Science courses at Renessalaer Polytechnic Institute with a 4.0/4.0 GPA.
